We are excited to announce that Coelme-Egic will be part of the first large-scale HVDC interconnection in the MENA region, between Egypt and Saudi Arabia! This ambitious project, with a total capacity of 3,000 megawatts (MW) and a total value of $1.8 billion, will improve grid resilience and security of power supply between both countries.
Coelme-Egic was awarded the full design and supply of disconnectors and earthing switches for all the converter stations, up to 500 kilovolt (kV) AC/DC. Thanks to our engineers that worked hard to create a complete and highly customized solution!
Coelme-Egic is leading the disconnector industry and our experience and reliability will once again serve Saudi Arabia (Medina and Tabuk) and Egypt (Badr), but we are already focused on many other HVDC projects in the pipeline.
