The CapSwitcher® has been specifically designed for the connection/disconnection of capacitor banks to the network.
It is provided with a closing resistor and a “puffer type”, SF6 interrupting chamber, both operated by the same stored-energy spring mechanism.
The design intrinsic features allow the same “movement” both to connect/disconnect the resistor and to close/open the main contacts, thus guaranteeing the correct operation sequence and making the equipment very reliable.
Compared to a traditional circuit-breaker, the CapSwitcher® can minimize overvoltages as well as inrush currents during capacitor banks insertion, with no need of synchronizing control systems, which are expensive and not always fully reliable.
