100 years of excellence

Our group is now approaching its first century of existence and our enthusiasm for the future has never been so strong.

The major milestones of this rich history are speaking by themselves :

  • 1916 : creation of the first repair shop of electric motors and transformers, in Birmingham (AL)
  • 1920’s : first AIS disconnectors
  • 1940’s : operations moved to Hampton (GA)
  • 1950 : creation of Egic, a company dedicated to AIS disconnectors near Lyon (France)
  • 1954 : first 1-arm pantograph disconnector
  • 1960’s : first export contracts • 1965 : Egic integrated in Merlin-Gerin group
  • 1970’s : 1100 & 800 kV disconnecting switches designed and delivered
  • 1975 : creation of Coelme, to design and produce HV connectors, bus ducts and disconnectors
  • 1980’s : Seismic qualification of DS’s and delivery in the most seismic countries in the world (Chile, California)
  • 1980’s : Coelme qualified by ENEL, one of the most demanding utilities in the world
  • 1990’s : Coelme and Egic become parts of Schneider Electric group
  • 1998 : first SF6 product
  • 2001 : Coelme and Egic merger
  • 2004 : We become the world leading group in the fields of AIS disconnectors, and a emerging specialist of switching products

    Today, we move forward in the 21 st century accompanying the expansion of electric power in the world, providing utilities and contractors with the best of our experience, to bring safety to humans and profit for the companies.
